The Power of Digital: Understanding new technology in local government

Funding and digital skills shortages have been identified as the most common barriers to technological adoption in the new APSE and Socitm report.

The Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) and Society for Innovation, Technology and Modernisation (Socitm) have published a report, making five recommendations on how local council frontline services can benefit from better adoption and use of digital, data and technological capabilities.

Data Analyst Apprenticeship for Adult Social Care

In 2024 Social Finance and Corndel will be launching a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Data Analysis targeted specifically to those working with data for Adult Social Care. This apprenticeship has been developed through research with analysts, and will include ASC specific data sets to support analysts to apply their skills to the service area.

This apprenticeship follows the successful development of a similar apprenticeship for those working in Children’s Social Care which has signed up over 100 analysts and two cohorts of graduates to date. You can find out more about this apprenticeship by visiting the Data to Insight website.

The Innovation Procurement Empowerment Centre is looking for five local authorities to join their forthcoming cohort, where they’ll receive personalised innovation procurement support fully funded by the UK government, along with opportunities for peer-to-peer learning interactions.

LGA Digitalisation: Leadership Essentials (new dates added)

The LGA is holding training in Leeds for councillors with an interest in cyber, digital and technology. The programme aims to demystify digitalisation for those new to this area and those wanting to build their existing knowledge.

Attendance, accommodation, meals and tuition for this event will be fully subsidised and will take place in Leeds.
