An update on Local Digital's support for the sector moving forward

We’re excited to share how we’re adapting our approach to support the sector. We’ll be taking a more strategic role as a ‘steward’ to bring councils together to deliver modern digital services.

This has been informed by your feedback at events and Roundtables, our ongoing evaluation study, analysis of our Local Digital processes, and the evolving cyber threat to local government.

Share your insights on cyber security and modelling

We're currently evaluating the impact of Local Digital's Cyber Support workstream on councils' cyber security (see the DLUHC Digital blog for a snapshot of initial findings). Our economist, Theo, is collaborating with cyber security consultants from Daintta to assess how it has influenced the risk and impact of cyber attacks on councils.

We're developing a model to compare risk and impact metrics before and after cyber support to evaluate its effectiveness. Additionally, by monetising the impact, we'll assess the programme's value to its cost.

We're engaging with stakeholders to refine our model and improve its accuracy over the coming months. If you have insights or experiences to share in relation to modelling and cyber security, please contact Theo at Theo.French@levellingup.gov.uk.

DSIT call for views on a Cyber Governance Code of Practice

As part of the £2.6bn National Cyber Strategy, The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) has launched a call for views on a proposed Cyber Governance Code of Practice.

The code focuses on the most critical areas that leaders must engage with, making it easier for directors, non-executive directors, and senior leaders to understand what actions are required to manage their cyber security risk.

DSIT is asking for feedback before 19 March. For further information, you can contact cybergovernance@dsit.gov.uk.
